Issue
How to upgrade CloudLinux 7 to CloudLinux 8?
Environment
- CloudLinux OS 7
- CloudLinux OS 8
Solution
Unfortunately, there is no way to upgrade from CloudLinux 7 to Cloudlinux 8 without reinstallation.
In this situation, it's recommended to set up CloudLinux OS 8.5 from scratch or set up CentOS 8/AlmaLinux 8 and convert it to the CloudLinux OS 8 - there's no possibility of upgrading from CloudLinux OS 7 to CLoudLinux OS 8 at the moment.
If you don't like the option of reinstalling the server, you can try using a hybrid kernel. CloudLinux OS Shared 7 Hybrid Kernel is essentially EL8-based (4.18) kernel compiled for CloudLinux OS Shared 7.
It will allow you to take advantage of the features available for CloudLinux8.
