Issue
The customer has already an IP-based licensing account with all CloudLinux OS Shared (CL) licenses currently registered as IP-based.
Ultimately, the customer wants to upgrade only some of them to CloudLinux OS Shared Pro (CLP) and continue using both CL and CLP in one IP-based licensing account.
Environment
- CloudLinux OS Shared
- CloudLinux OS Shared Pro
Solution
In order to start using both products - CL and CLP - customers can consider the options below:
- Option #1. Customers can create another account with us.
This option is not recommended in case customers would like to manage all licenses in one single account. Besides, customers will get access to key-based licensing only in this case. - Option #2. Customers can transfer and re-register all the CloudLinux OS Shared licenses to Server accounts as key-based.
The only option to combine both CLP and CL in an IP-based licensing type of account is to have the CL licenses registered as key-based in Server accounts and the CLP licenses registered as IP-based.
The benefit of option #2 is that customers will be able to upgrade only the chosen number of server(s) as the IP-based licenses and to keep all licenses in one account as it's not possible to upgrade only selected IP addresses if they are all under the IP licenses tab.
This will require customers to transfer to the Server accounts tab and re-register all needed IP addresses using the CL license.
After that, customers will be able to upgrade the main account to CloudLinux Shared Pro and register servers as IP-based CLP.
If the customer has a sizable number of licenses under CL and decides to proceed with option #2, please contact the Billing team by scrolling to the bottom and clicking on the Submit Request button to get assistance with the license transfer.
