Error: cagefsctl is already running. please try again later.

Issue

The following error output can be seen in the upcp log when updating cagefs.

Error: cagefsctl is already running. please try again later.

Environment

• CloudLinux
• cPanel
• CageFS

Solution

Either ignore this message and wait until the main cagefsctl process is finished. 

OR

Find the process with the command ps aux | grep cagefsctl and if it has been running for a long time or "hung" you can kill it with the kill -9 PID command.

Cause

CageFS command is already running on server.
