Issue

Imunify fails to clean up the detected malware with the following statement:

Unable to clean up

The affected file or directory lacks the expected permissions:

Environment

• Imunify360
• ImunifyAV
• Scanner
• cPanel

Solution

Fix the file/directory permissions so it would be accessible and writeable by the user.

Cause

The scanner acts on behalf of the cPanel user and, in order to clean up the files, the files should be readable and writable, and the directories should be executable by the corresponding user.
