Running the ELS installation script results in the "Problem with installing packages to system" error

Issue

Running the ELS installation script may result in the following errors:

Problem with installing packages to system
Return code: 1
The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found

Environment

• ELS
• CentOS 6
  

Solution

1. Check your kernel architecture with the following command:

uname -a

2. In case you can see the i686, i386 or x86 in the output, this would mean the server is incompatible with the ELS.

Cause

The Extended Lifecycle Support program is compatible with the x64 kernel architecture only. CentOS 6 ELS support for the x86/i386/i686 kernels is not provided.
