Issue
After the latest shim-x64 package update, the server still doesn't boot on its own.
It is necessary to wait for an error "Unsupported returned from shimx64-cloudlinux.efi" every time in KVM.
Then choose another option to load the server: grubx64.efi.
Environment
- OVH
- CloudLinux 7/8
- shim-x64-15.6-1.el8.cloudlinux.x86_64
Solution
1. Try to downgrade the shim-x64 package and reboot the server.
If no success - go to next point.
2. Remove shim loader and backup its efi files:
cd /boot/efi/EFI/almalinux/
mv shimx64* ~/ rpm -e --nodeps shim-x64-15.6-1.el8.cloudlinux.x86_64
Cause
It’s Red Hat upstream issue.
