CloudLinux OS Pro Questions
1. What is CloudLinux OS Pro? Is it an entirely different OS?
CloudLinux OS Pro is the same operating system, yet with some extra features added on top: AccelerateWP, X-Ray and Centralized Monitoring. If you are an existing CloudLinux OS user, nothing changes for you! However, there is always an option to try some extra features that CL OS Pro brings to the table.
2. I've upgraded CloudLinux OS Legacy to CloudLinux OS Pro. What happens with my existing servers? Do I have to do any extra steps on a server side?
As long as your system receives fresh updates, you're good to go! If you haven't updated the system recently, make sure that you have updates compatible with CL OS Pro installed on the server. Here are the requirements for the X-Ray and Centralized Monitoring components.
3. Can I downgrade from CloudLinux OS Pro?
Of course, you can downgrade the CloudLinux OS Pro licenses at any time. The prorated subscription downgrade will take place. If you ordered the CloudLinux OS Pro trial license, it wouldn't be a problem downgrading to a CloudLinux OS license later.
4. I've purchased my CloudLinux OS license somewhere else (not directly with CL). Can I still upgrade it to CloudLinux OS Pro?
Reach out to the provider from whom the license was purchased. Alternatively, you may cancel the CloudLinux OS reseller's license and purchase it directly from us. If you have any questions during this process, please do not hesitate to contact our Billing team for assistance.
5. I have an IP-based license; I do not resell licenses and still wish to subscribe to CloudLinux OS Pro. Can I?
Yes, please refer to the article: How to add licenses in an IP-based licensing account [key-based and IP-based type]. Or reach out to our Billing team for help with that.
X-Ray Questions
1. What control panels are supported?
X-Ray works on cPanel, Plesk, and DirectAdmin-based servers.
2. What are the key benefits of X-Ray?
PHP X-Ray is a tracing tool that pinpoints why a site is slow — slow plugins, database calls, external APIs, etc. It saves admins from guessing or disabling plugins one by one.
Feature highlights (30-second tour):
What it does | Typical wins |
---|---|
Trace any slow URL on cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin | See the exact query, function or external call slowing a page |
Drill-down graphs & flame-charts | Visualise bottlenecks instead of combing logs |
Smart Advice (beta) | Auto-suggest fixes such as “disable plugin X” or “index column Y” |
No need for root — end-users can run traces from their control-panel | Lets hosters push troubleshooting to customers safely |
5-10 % runtime overhead only while tracing | Turn it on, find the culprit, turn it off |
Centralized Monitoring Questions
1. I don't want to use Centralized Monitoring, but I still wish to use X-Ray. How do I disable Centralized Monitoring and keep the X-Ray?
You will need to run the following command:
/usr/share/cloudlinux/cl_plus/manage_clplus disable
It excludes the server from the Centralized Monitoring and keeps both the CL OS Pro status and the X-Ray component.
