Issue
How can Imunify360 fully replace the functionalities of CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall) and CMQ (ConfigServer Mail Queues).
Environment
- Imunify360
Solution
CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall) Replacement
Imunify360 serves as a comprehensive replacement for CSF, offering a multi-layered security approach.
- Firewall & Brute-Force Protection: Imunify360's Web Application Firewall (WAF), Network Firewall, Proactive Defense, and reputation management provide robust protection against brute-force attacks and malware, effectively replacing CSF's core functions.
- Denial-of-Service (DoS) Protection: Imunify360's DoS and ENHANCED_DOS protection modules are equivalent to or better than CSF's connection tracking and limiting features.
-
Future Enhancements: An "under attack" mode is planned to maximize protection during high-load events. The
csf.integrationsetting in Imunify360 will not cause errors after CSF's discontinuation.
CMQ (ConfigServer Mail Queues) Replacement
Imunify360 does not offer a direct replacement for CMQ.
Imunify360's email security focuses on scanning for malware in outgoing mail. It does not provide the mail queue management interface that CMQ offers. Server administrators should use their control panel's built-in tools, such as WHM's Mail Queue Manager, or command-line utilities like exim. The Imunify Email addon is available for inbound and outbound email protection.
Cause
As per recent announcements, CSF will be discontinued after August 31, 2025. https://configserver.com/announcement/
